Our parents divorce. We fall in love. We lose a loved one. We age. But our internal, personal realities are shaped by the stories we tell about these external realities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Problem-laden narratives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For many reasons, the stories we tell are often &#8220;problem laden.&#8221; My parents were not good parents because I was such a bad child. My lover left because I&#8217;m unlovable. I&#8217;ve reached a certain age and am afraid I&#8217;ve wasted my life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The narrative approach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A big part of my work is helping clients identify their problem-laden narratives and then helping them re-tell these stories.
